We are pleased to announce our sponsorship of the 12th Tee at Teesside Golf Club.
The club has been in situ since 1901 and has over 600 members including a thriving Junior section. The original course was reclaimed from the old marshes at Mandale Bottoms; the club house, which opened in 1932, was a granary for ships coming up the Tees to deliver their grain. This historical club showcases the rich history and innovation of Teesside and its people.
Over the last 10 years the club house and course have had a complete transformation; with new trees, ponds, bunkers, a drainage irrigation system, and a private driving range for members. The course offers the modern golfer the highest quality experience. During the club’s history it has attracted some big names to the course, namely PGA Tour Professional Graeme Storm and England Cricketers Ian Botham and Liam Plunkett.
In August 2004 the clubhouse underwent significant renovation and a restaurant was opened on the site. Teesside Golf Club can host both private and corporate functions for up to 90 people in the newly added extension.
The club has an active social scene, with regular Pro-am events and a monthly social event for the members. There is also an annual Captain’s Dinner Dance, Summer BBQ, Junior fund raising quiz and Christmas functions.
The Club Professional Stewart Pilgrim, started his career in golf at age 16 and turned professional at 21, starting the PGA programme. At 24 years old he was appointed head professional of Teesside Golf Club and was one of the youngest professionals in the country. During his 13 years at Teesside Golf Club Stewart has continued to play competitive golf for the PGA National, Regional and County levels and is this year’s Captain of the NE/NW PGA. Off the course Stewart is continuing to progress his technical knowledge of the game and is working towards his Director of Golf qualification.
